London Cab Advertising are delighted to announce that
they are sponsoring Richard Westbrook in the Porsche Carerra Cup
in 2003.
Westbrook tyred but not emotional

Highgate's Richard Westbrook proved once again to be the pace-setter
in the Michelin Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain at Snetterton
last weekend. However, lady luck was not kind to the LCA-backed
driver when he was denied maximum points by firstly a broken damper
in Saturday's opening race and then a late-race puncture in the
day's second encounter.
Starting alongside guest driver and factory junior pilot Pat Long,
Richard made his customary lightning start to grab the lead and
pull out an early lead of one and a half seconds. However, going
into the third lap, a front left damper broke dramatically and Westbrook
did well to catch the ensuing wild moment.
Dropping to third behind Long and title rival Barry Horne, Richard
amazed onlookers by closing in despite the problem, finishing the
race glued to Horne's bumper.
"It was a result just to finish as the damper was 200kilos out
at the end but we had the pace to win that one," commented Richard
afterwards.
With cockpit temperatures nearing 50°C, no-one was relishing the
second 30-minute race. However, fortune seemed to have turned for
the Team BCR driver as he and Long motored away from the rest of
the field until the safety car was deployed when both Horne and
fellow rival Jason Templeman had big accidents at Snetterton's notorious
Bombhole and Coram respectively.
"I saw Barry in the tyre wall and then Jason, and I thought "result".
Then behind the safety car, as we went through the final chicane
the tyre went pop and I had to do a whole lap to get to the pits.
I'm not too upset though as we proved once again that are faster
than Barry.
"Such was the rate of attrition that Richard still finished fifth
behind winner and team mate David Cuff who salvaged some pride with
his maiden win, despite losing his clutch at the start and a mid-race
spin after contact with Jonathan Rowland.
